Yoga & The Breath of Life
"Make every action and every movement one of beauty, grace and intention ~ a sacred offering of love to the Divine"
Yoga is an ancient art and a pathway for living in harmony and balance. In its essence, yoga is a communion with the breath of life that moves though each of us - a returning to our wholeness. Through deep wisdom and dedicated practice, the teachings of yoga aim to harmoniously unify body, mind and consciousness in such a way that the body becomes an instrument for treading the path of self awareness.
Yoga invites us to open up to the beauty and light within us. Yoga invites us to let go of the things that keep us from living in authenticity. The invitation is to pause. To be still. To realise that what we are looking for, lives within.
The word Hatha is a compound of the words Ha and Tha, meaning sun (masculine) and moon (feminine). This is the principle of yin & yang, maintaining balance & wholeness within the complementary energies of feminine & masculine, left & right, light & dark, night & day. Hatha yoga is one 'limb' of the tree of yoga and refers to practices which purify and nourish our temple (body), clearing the pathways for cultivating a pure mind and inner harmony.
These movements and practices help to ease and release toxins, physical and emotional pain, stress, and tension; encourage skeletal alignment, fluidity, strength, and awaken and harmonise the energies of our internal system. Through a meditative practice and awarness of the breath, the mind can become calm and clear, allowing you to feel more relaxed, rejuvenated and in tune with yourself.
Yoga is a remedy for the whole person, and is a unique, inner journey for each of us. Yoga is not for show, or a competition. You work with your body, as it is each day, through the moons, seasons and years, that, like our bodies, are always changing. Practicing in this way is beneficial to all regardless of age, gender, body shape, flexibility, fitness, or previous experience.
Unfolding from Within
This approach to yoga is a journey of unfolding, through turning your attention inwards. Through this deep listening practice, your natural sensitivity and self awareness awakens, freeing energy and space from inside, outwards. The practice involves exploring our connection with the Earth and Sky, the sacred breath and the space within and all around us. We learn to listen to the breath and witness our body and mind with a loving and honest approach towards ourselves. This yoga works with the body's own intelligence and innate healing abilities, encouraging the natural unfolding of healthy posture, a fluid, supple body, expansion of breath, and the opening of the heart to touch the soul and reconnect with our Essence.
Yoga sessions will include guidance and (optional) healing touch & assitance for each individual. We may work with movement, asana, guided imagery, breathwork and meditation, as well as holistic approaches for a natural and healthy lifestyle.
This approach draws upon the ancient wisdom of yoga, the Tao and shamanism, and is also rooted in the teachings of yoga inspired by Vanda Scaravelli.
Daniela's journey with ancient movement forms began 20 years ago, learning Tai Chi and Chi Qong. She completed a yoga teacher training in 2005 in Shjanta Yoga and later, Integral Yoga with 'Yoga from Within'. She is deeply grateful to the teachers who have guided and deeply inspired her to find her own yoga within: Sandra Sabatini, Angela Farmer, John Stirk, Mark Whitwell, and the teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Vanda Scaravelli, Zen, Taoism, Kriya yoga, Kundalini yoga and explorations into craniosacral therapy. Her yoga teaching also draws upon many years of working with energetic practices and the healing arts and spending time in silent retreat in Nature.
Through her teaching Daniela brings awareness into the body, and our interconnectedness with Nature, the elements, the Earth & creation. She holds a compassionate, focused and safe space to work with the stories & patterns held within the body - mind - heart, and the layers of kleshas - the states that cloud the mind and manifest in unwholesome thoughts, words & actions. She works with a simple practice that goes deep and embraces all.
Daniela teaches workshops and retreats in Scotland & England, as well as one to one classes online.
“When we feel ready to let go with loving gratitude of all systems and forms, all teachings and teachers,
we may then quietly awaken to who We truly are.”
~ Angela Farmer
